Is the war in Gaza the Fulfilment of Prophesy?
When thinking about what is currently happening with the middle eastern tensions and threats of war, exchanging blows etc, how are we as the body of Christ called to respond, in light of the possibility of global and nuclear war? Preach Jesus, point people to Christ, make disciples of Jesus. Fulfilling the great commission etc, but is there anything additional to the specificity of the topics of wars, rumours of wars bible passages, that we as Christians should spend time with?
To couple this, many Christians seem to have a specific viewpoint linking certain nations involved in this tension, to biblical end time prophesy being fulfilled through the occurrence of what’s happening in the middle eastern tension with Israel, Iran, etc. Some even believe it is the beginning of the great battle of Gog and Magog. Is there clarity to this?
What are we to make of all of this in our context, and how do we move forward in love and with truth to these views, that can often be considered as fear mongering to the outside world? Thank you.
Do We Need To Receive The Holy Spirit Sometime After We Believe?
I’m hoping you can help me understand the issue in Acts 8:14-17? Was there anything in your notes to clarify the difference between the two baptisms that you didn't get time to address? I'm excited to work through this as I have been confused about baptism in general with some Christians maintaining there are two baptisms, some saying only one necessary etc. Blessings, Jo
Should I give less to church if i volunteer?
You might answer this in your [Generous] series but what are your thoughts on equating serving in the church to tithing? I recently heard a couple of people say “since I do so much for the church in a volunteer capacity, I don’t need to tithe as much”. - Anonymous
Worship Music
As most (if not all of us), understand the importance of music in our Christian worship. But why? Why is it such an integral part of our worship? What does the Bible tell us about it? Is it unique to the Bible and Christianity? Also, why some Christian music seems less Christian lately? Finally, how is worship music selected at Red Door Church?
Forgiveness
I’ve been told that Christians aren’t called to forgive someone who has hurt them until that person apologises. I’m trying to make this fit with the sermon on Sunday (The Unforgiving Servant). Are we called to forgive people who aren’t sorry?
Polygamy
As we study the book of 2nd Samuel and the story of David, we understand that David had multiple wives. So, what does the Bible tell us about polygamy? and was it considered as a sin? (in case of David like his murder and adultery) and was it a widespread practice during Jesus days? and what about the early church and Christians how did they deal with it?
Aussie Gospel Distortions?
At our Red Door Small Group, we recently finished watching the documentary series called American Gospel alongside our Red Door mini sermon series in the book of Galatians preached by Josh and Tibor.
The message of the film was that the American culture has distorted the gospel by adding promises of “the American dream” of health wealth and prosperity or subtracting from the gospel due cultural factors like the influence of postmodernism. With your knowledge of both cultures, do you think the Australian culture has the same emphasis in churches? If not, can you comment on some dangers and distortions from our Australian culture of the Gospel? What may be typical in Australian churches for us to be alert to?
The Trinity
Why is the Trinity such a fundamental necessity to believe for the Christian, and why does it matter significantly that Jesus is God incarnate and not just a man who says some challenging stuff?
Should we pray for Putin’s death?
Am I justified in praying that Vladimir Putin would be the victim of his own violence?
How Can Jesus Be Our Eternal Father?
Is Isaiah 9:6 referring to Jesus? If so, why is He called 'Everlasting Father' in this verse?
Does God Condemn Good People?
I accept that those who are Christ’s people are promised eternal life, and that those who are really bad go in the other direction, but what about those who have not heard anything of God, really good people here on earth who use their lives for good purposes? God is love, why would he judge these with the others?
Evangelism & God's Sovereignty
If the book of life was decided at creation, why do we bother evangelising?
Israel vs. Hamas
There’s a lot of different opinions about the current war in Israel and Palestine. Does the Bible help us understand what’s going on?
Unanswered Prayer
Why does God answer some small prayers (e.g. finding a car park) and not the bigger prayers (e.g healing someone who is sick) when we know that he can?
When we pray for the sick and God doesn’t heal, is it because we lack faith?
